Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
Perhaps in this little time of the year, we’ll dig almighty among our family members, friends, carolers, peers for a piece of THAT song..but since I got it somewhere I’d like to share it with you!
The author and composer of We Wish You a Merry Christmas cannot be traced; however, and that it dates back to sixteenth-century England. This carol is one of the few traditional holiday songs that mention the New Year’s celebration. This carol reflects the tradition of carolers being given Christmas treats for singing to wealthy members of the community.
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer.
We won’t go until we get some;
We won’t go until we get some;
We won’t go until we get some, so bring some out here.
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Enjoy!
